If you live in Inverloch you'll know how hard it is to walk past Mookah's store front without popping in. Harder still is popping in and resisting the temptation to buy most of their stock. When we were shooting this piece we left with an uber-cool wall hung vase and a pair of Elk linen trousers - such is the tempation, you have been warned!

From humble beginnings in 2009, from where two very stylish sisters created and made their own label in a garage at home to sell at small country markets, Mookah has grown to now having two bricks-and-mortar stores, one in Inverloch and the other in warragul, an online clothing store and a presence at selected designer markets around the country. All of their garments are designed and made in Australia.

While the mookah label is represented in each of the stores, they have become more lifestyle-oriented with the addition of a collection of clothing, homewares, accessories, gifts, books, and body products that complement the relaxed, casual style of the mookah brand. We love them all!

The intention with each of their retail stores was to create a space that other people enjoy spending time in as much as they do, filled with lots of beautiful products to browse and friendly, helpful staff. An important role for the team is to help share their knowledge of the products and the story behind the brands, to help customers make meaningful purchases. The online store has a similar feel – inviting, friendly and filled with lovely designer garments, homewares, gifts and accessories to browse.

Mookah is a supporter of slow fashion; a deliberate choice to purchase better quality items, less often. This is also why they have a general focus on ‘handmade’ clothes and other items within their stores. In terms of fashion, their aim is to focus on pieces that are simple and stylish, but functional, and suitable for comfortable everyday wear.

At Mookah headquarters, lovingly referred to as " The Tin Shed" the team work with a wide range of materials, which reflects the diversity of their product range, and is ever growing and changing, but they all have similarities, in that they are all natural fibres and hand screen printed locally.
The home wares range includes ottomans, throw cushions, and beanbags focusing on the use of hand printed natural fabrics in a simple but stylish manner using earthy colour tones.
